Aneurin Jones is widely regarded as one of Wales’s foremost artistic talents. Harvest Moon is a deft combination of prose and paintings, where we come to understand how he came to be one of the most prominent portrayers of the Welsh rural vista.
We learn about his upbringing in Cwm Wysg, his high-spirited college days, and his artistically fruitful times living in Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire where he rediscovered the close-knit communities and original characters of his youth.
Full of amusing anecdotes and portraits of memorable characters (and animals, too), Harvest Moon not only portrays a way of life which is rapidly disappearing, but also celebrates the work of one of Wales’s greatest artists. The book contains paintings which have never been published before, and also some of Aneurin’s most up-to-date works.
The book, which is available in both hardback and softback format, will be launched at the opening of a new exhibition of Aneurin’s work at the Awen Teifi gallery, Cardigan, on Friday, 5 December, at 7.30 p.m. The new exhibition will be formally opened by broadcaster Sara Edwards. The book is published by Y Lolfa.
